UFC Fight for the Troops to Raise Money for Injured Soldiers
6 salutes

Even the UFC is in the holiday spirit and is willing to provide a few nice gifts this year.  Not only will we be entertained by one of the greatest fight cards ever on December 27th, but the UFC is putting on a Fight for the Troops on December 10 in Fayetteville, North Carolina at Fort Bragg.  The fight will be shown for free on Spike and will be headlined by a battle between Josh Koscheck and Yoshiyuki Yoshida.  The event will raise funds for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, which provides support for military personnel who have been severely wounded.  Make sure you check it out to show your support.  If you can't check out the event, but would still like to contribute to another great cause, check out Operation Comfort Warriors being organized by the American Legion.

I'm not sure if all the fights will be televised, but I'm pretty excited to check it out.  Think about it.  Two guys doing serious battle in a cage while cheered on by an audience of heroic soldiers.  Doesn't get much better than that.  I salute the UFC for putting on such a great event for a good cause.

The fight card also features five military veterans turned UFC fighters. Luigi Fioravanti, a Marine Corps veteran who served in Iraq fought two years ago in the first sanctioned event on a military base.  The event was held at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in California and drew thousands of Marines.  "It was crazy the energy you got from them," Fioravanti said. "I felt like I was unstoppable."
