Random Thoughts for 2009 on a Sunday
3 salutes

1. Keeping the current economical difficulty in perspective, does anyone really think that Obama is going to fix anything this year?

2. Regardless of which side you fall on in the current war in Gaza, I thought Sen. Ron Paul made an excellent point about supporting either side in this conflict.

3. I think it's time for the NCAA to create a playoff schedule for the BCS.

4. I am finally going to buy my first HD television this month. I had no idea how complicated and diverse the field of contenders was going to be. This could take a while to figure out. Anyone have suggestions on something they have purchased or own?

5. I'm thinking about quitting smoking for a new years resolution. The fact that I have not started yet probably indicates that I should put procrastination on that list as well. Is there an acceptable amount of time I can milk this story before it looks like a desperate attempt to conform to public opinion?

6. The fact that I normally score over 94% in expert mode on Rock Band 2 seems to indicate a large amount of free time I could be doing something more constructive.

7. The new democratic economic stimulus plan is going to be around 700 Billion dollars. Too much or too little to jump start the economy?

8. Is it a foregone conclusion that anyone over the age of 40 thinking about buying a corvette is in the midst of a mid-life crisis? I still have all my hair so I've got that going for me I guess.

9. What sort of retirement plan should a person with no children have? Does it really matter?

10. Why do people have this fascination with putting Christmas tree lights on fake ficus trees?

Anyway, that's some things I wanted to say about the first few weeks of 2009. Feel free to comment and don't forget to salute if you enjoyed the topic.

Quitting smoking isn't a matter of conforming to public opinion, but of saving your life. It was not news in 1964, when the Surgeon General linked smoking to cancer and heart disease.
