Mojave Desert Cross Crusaders Honored To Assemble Vietnam "WALL"
3 salutes

To: Everyone who is fighting to protect our Memorials!

What a tremendous honor this is for me personally to end up being so involved with all of you.

I am an Aux. & American Legion Rider at Post #105 Phoenix, Arizona. One of our legionairs brought the Save the Mojave Cross situation to my attention.

The Mojave Desert Memorial Cross has stood proudly for over 75 years, honoring our American war dead. Or it was until the ACLU stepped in and got a judge to rule the memorial to World War I veterans unconstitutional. They covered the cross with a bag, and when that didn't work, they boarded it up in a plywood box. Now, they're threatening to tear down this national monument because they don't believe America should have religious imagery anywhere on public property.

If they win and succeed in tearing down this monument, what's next? Imagine what could happen at the Arlington National Cemetery. Will they put bags over all the crosses that mark the graves of our fallen heroes? What about the 20-foot Canadian Cross of Sacrifice? We believe America should remember and honor her veterans; and were taking our case to the U.S. Supreme Court to tell the ACLU that they can't tear down our freedom! “

I found out that 9-10 of our active duty soldiers in Iraq, decided to teamed up with Liberty Legal (Dallas,Tx) in order to help bring attention to the fight against the ACLU. These Soldiers are planning a caravan from Ft. Polk, La, to The Mojave Desert Cross. 9/14 - 9/21
I have been working with our soldiers & Liberty Legal to plan Welcomes, events, news coverage, lodging etc...along their route but especially here in Arizona.

Our post #105 ALR has been asked to escort "The Wall" from Anthem to Phoenix Memorial Cemetery on 9/15/09 which meant the "Wall" was going to be assembled here, on the day that these fine soldiers were in town, I just knew it was meant to be in order to bring honor to both of these Memorials!
So I contacted the wonderful people of Phoenix Memorial Park, VFW post 9400, it's Womans & Mens Auxiliaries and asked if they would honor us by allowing them to assit them with the assembling of the “WALL” on 9/16/09 before they continue on to the Mojave Desert Memorial. They said that they would be honored to have us.
We need to support these traveling walls so that no EVER forgets what our Freedom has cost us!

I am still working on some of our details.

American Legion post #107 & their ALR are
providing a Welcome Breakfast for them 9/16/09   0700-0800 (7-8:30 am) then an escort to Phoenix Memorial Cemetery  www.dmvw2009.webs.com  where they will honor the Vietnam vets by helping put the "Wall" together.

We plan to continue on toward Laughlin area via Flagstaff by 1100 that same day with a stop at the I-17 Veterans Memorial @ McGuireville exit.

American Legion post #60, Laughlin is sponsoring a Welcome Dinner and lodging for them the evening of 9/16.  The men have asked that they have some quality time to be with other Vets, so ideally I would like to ask that the all vets join together, at the post to spend time with them.

The men would also like to read names of deceased & place a wreath at the Memorial to honor those we have lost for the freedom of all.  They have asked that we help provide some names for them to read & I am asking that we also provide the wreath. (email me with these names & I will start compiling this list)

I know that these men are paying for this trip out of their pockets, any donations collected and not used for the trip are being donated to continue fighting to save all of our war memorials!

I would also request that you contact me ASAP for anyone with assitance, suggestions & donations (Motor homes, porta pots, water, foods, first aid, etc....) for the main event at the "Memorial" 9/17/09 so that I may get you with our contacts there in California.

Three weeks after this event is when The U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, D.C will hear this case (Salazar, et al. v. Buono) on October 7, 2009. Liberty Legal Institute represents five veterans groups, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States [VFW], The American Legion, Military Order of the Purple Heart, VFW of California, and American Ex-Prisoners of War, which represent over four million veterans. We need to have a massive, peaceful rally and keep this in the news, on call in radio shows, in congresses ear, everywhere until they rule Hands off our memorials!!

For all you outraged Christian patriots, guess what...there are no crosses at the Arlington National Cemetary. I guess the ACLU already got there first. Duh!

ltlwtduv, Great post. I applaud your efforts and even though I live on the other side of the country, I would be honored to aid you in this in my own meager way. Let me know how I can help.
I am outraged!

I want so bad to stand at that cross and defend it with my life if need be! If the aclu dosn't want to live in a country with christian beliefs there are plenty of others they can go and not have to look at the cross. Nobody is forcing them to be christians. Our vetrans can't stand up out of there graves and fight this but. " by god we owe it to them to fight for them!" The aclu has crossed the line and if they want a war I say lets give them one! This really ***** me off! God Bless America!

After reading this story about the Mojave Cross. I felt the need to respond. I am a military veteran, and a proud member of the american legion. I am tired of the aclu and anyone else trying to tell me what is right for everyone. If the supreme court rules in their favor. Will all the crosses on all the graves in Arlington National Cemetery and cemeteries elsewhere have to be removed?

The ACLU has no love for religious freedom. It wants all crosses and other religious images removed from every tombstone on public property. This is done in the name of "separation of church and state," however no such words exist in our Constitution of the United States. Rather, the Constitution indicates there shall be no state-run religions. The ACLU has twisted these words around in an attempt to decimate our freedom. It is anti-Christ. (Bob)
