11 a.m. (1000) Depart Phoenix escorted by American Legion Riders and
Riders USA; will pick up other motorcyclists along the way
12:30 p.m. (1230) Visit War Memorial at the McGuireville Rest Area along I-
17 between Camp Verde and Flagstaff. Join Jim Edgmon,
Founder of the memorial, for a reading of “Patriotism”

and Wanda Sandoz who were personal friends of veteran
Riley Bembrey who helped erect the monument in 1934
noon (1200) Arrive at I-40 and Kelbaker to put up flags/Formation
12:30 p.m. (1230) Everyone Meet in Kelso for Main Escort to Memorial
1 to 3 p.m. (1300 – 1500) Arrive Mojave Desert Memorial
Lay a Wreath
Reading of Names of Fallen Soldiers
Reading of Patriotism
Observe a Moment of Silence
3 p.m. (1500) Depart to Desert Hot Springs, CA VFW Post
1 Club House Drive , Desert Hot Springs, CA 92241
6 p.m. (1800) Arrive in Desert Hot Springs; dinner with VFW Post
Sept. 18 or 19, 2009
Return to Fort Polk, LA via: Phoenix, El Paso, San Antonio,
and Houston
