Baseball stars Jeff Kent and Luis Gonzalez will add their lively commentary to the first live webcast of The American Legion Baseball World Series, Aug. 14-18 in Fargo, N.D.
The 15-game series will be webcast exclusively via live video stream on The American Legion's Web site at www.legion.org/baseball.
Eight Legion Baseball regional champions are heading to Fargo for the upcoming series. They are sponsored by the following American Legion posts: Medford, Ore., Post 15; Las Vegas Post 76, Festus, Mo., Post 253, Mt. Airy, Md., Post 191; Salisbury, N.C., Post 342; Berlin, Conn., Post 68; Midland, Mich., Post 165 and Texarkana, Texas, Post 25.
Kent and Gonzalez, former stars for the San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks respectively, are both five-time members of the Major League All-Star Team. Gonzalez played baseball for American Legion Post 248 in Tampa, Fla., before moving on to the big leagues.
Kent will work the microphone for Legion World Series games on Sat., Aug. 15 and Sun., Aug. 16. Gonzalez will cover the final two days of the series on Mon., Aug. 17 and Tue., Aug. 18.
Jim Darby, the "Voice of American Legion Baseball," will webcast the play-by-play. His co-anchor is Bill Haase, former Detroit Tigers executive and senior vice president for the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, N.Y.
